Madison County Nature Trail
A Park for All Seasons
Madison County Nature Trail, otherwise known as Green Mountain Nature Trail, is a 1.5 nature trail located in a 72-acre park atop Green Mountain in southeast Huntsville. The trail itself surrounds a gorgeous 17-acre lake, Sky Lake, and provides the most gorgeous views in every season.
In springtime guests enjoy dogwoods and azaleas, summer brings wildflowers and a thick green canopy, and fall follows with the most gorgeous foliage. The entire area is amazingly tranquil and allows you to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world for a bit and enjoy fishing, hiking, wildlife watching, and picnicking. There is also an onsite pavilion for events, a chapel, an outdoor classroom, and a beautiful covered bridge.
Fun Fact: Along the trail, you will find the state's largest and oldest Champion Winged Elm Tree, which is quite the site to see!
