Minnesota Museum of American Art

Our mission is to explore American identities and experiences through art and creativity. - Minnesota Museum of American Art

Located in this historic Pioneer Endicott building in downtown Saint Paul, the Minnesota Museum of American Art, or The M for short, is a fun, free, education-filled stop you can make during your Minneapolis - Saint Paul trip.

This museum was first founded as the Saint Paul School of Fine Arts in 1884, with a long-standing history in the community as an art education leader. It is actually considered to be one of the oldest visual arts organizations in the state! Today you will find American paintings and sculptures from the 19th century and beyond. There are over 5,000 works of art that 'showcase the unique voices of America's artists' inside.

The M believes that 'art should reflect the constantly shifting landscape that defines the American experience '. They feature new voices plus masters from the 19th and 20th centuries within and even have a major expansion to feature more in 2021. You will see works by Paul Manship, George Morrison, Joan Mitchel, Louise Nevelson, and much more.

While here your group can take part in any happening Studio Artist Classes, Artist Takeovers, or 10-15 minute Flash Talks.
