National Museum of Civil War Medicine

Follow in the footsteps of soldiers and surgeons to discover the harsh conditions, personal sacrifices, and brilliant innovations of Civil War medicine, innovations that continue to save lives today. - NMCWM

The National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick Maryland is a respected historic education institution that allows guests to learn all about medicinal practices during the US Civil War.

This small museum focuses on medical, surgical, and nursing practices during the American Civil War and works to 'document the medicinal treatment of wounded soldiers' through its various exhibits, collections, dioramas, and videos.  There are over 5,000 artifacts on display at any given time, many of the rarest available through the museum's 'Artifacts Revealed' series (see video below).

Your group can walk around the museum on your own time or sign up for any of the many different group/guided tour options, with options such as add-on activities, scholarly talks, walking tours, and behind the scenes views.
