500,000 acres in New Mexico have just been purchased to create the Organ Mountains – Desert Peaks National Monument.

The park will feature five mountain ranges, prehistoric art and historical sites such as the training area for the Apollo astronauts.

The park hopes to strengthen tourism and recreation with activities like hiking, camping, hunting and horseback riding.
