Pioneer Square

Come experience the natural beauty of the neighborhood now the birthplace to thriving businesses, vibrant shops, lively arts, top rated eateries and night life ranging from manic to romantic. It's all here, waiting to be explored...

Welcome to Pioneer Square, one of the most visited districts in Seattle, the very birthplace of the city itself. With a history dating back to 1852, Pioneer Square features all the best of the old, and of the new. It is within this neighborhood that you can walk down historic streets and learn about the original city settlement, as well as shop, dine, and visit all the newest most popular attractions.

There are art galleries, coffee shops, and trendy bars to be explored throughout Pioneer Square, as well as several regular events, the most popular being the Art Walk and March to the Match. Visit major city attractions like the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park, Waterfall Garden Park, and food trucks at Occidental Square. You can easily spend all day wandering around the neighborhood, sampling fares from the local eateries lining the streets, filling your shopping bags, and enjoying the quintessential Seattle city vibe.

Of course, you must spend some time learning about the history of Pioneer Square while here, this being the site of Seattle's original downtown before it burnt in 1889. We highly suggest taking an Underground Tour like Bill Speidel's, allowing you to see the original streets, sidewalks, and storefronts tucked away down below what you see today!
