New on the Washington D.C. museum scene, Planet Word is the ultimate destination for English, linguistics, and language lovers!
During your visit to Planet Word, your group will be inspired, surprised, and amazed by what you will find, the museum offering such never before seen features as a 22-foot high voice-activated word wall, a truly 'magical' library, a Speaking Willow, and so much more.
There are several multi-sensory and physical activities, as well as listening and conversation stations, each aspect adding to your overall learning experience. The hope is that you will walk away from the museum realizing that words are one of humankind's most powerful tools and that the visit will 'awaken a love of language that will last a lifetime'.
Before you go, spend time creating a marketing campaign, watching yourself give a famous speech, or moving with the rhythm of words and lyrics. Meet professional linguists, spoken word poets, new authors, English and language teachers, and more during your visit. There are three main galleries, including Where Do Words Come From, Words Matter, and The Spoken Word. After spending ample time in each head over to the Museum Cafe for a Gutenburger or bowl of Alphabet Soup, then head to the gift shop for your word-related souvenirs.
