Welcome to Raccoon Mountain Caverns and Campground, the Chattanooga attraction that holds the highest rated cave and premier RV park and campgrounds. Whether you are visiting the caves only, or if you are camping here with your group overnight, we guarantee you are really going to have a lot of fun here!

The Raccoon Mountain Caverns themselves have been rated the #1 'Thing to Do' in Chattanooga by TripAdvisor and is often called the #1 Wild Cave Adventure in the South. Open since 1931, this limestone cavern holds a maze of passageways, waterfalls, rock formations, fossils, and gorgeous natural scenery throughout. When taking a Wild Cave Expedition your group will experience one of the most 'challenging and rigorous' cave climbs around, the journey having you walk, crawl, climb, and wiggle through the various chambers, canyons, and tunnels throughout. The emphasis here is on safety, ecology, and proper caving technique, so your group will be given proper training and safety gear beforehand. We suggest you take the beginner tour, which will last about 2 hours.

You can also opt in to take the Crystal Palace Tour, a less-challenging option that consists of a 45-55 guided walk through the first 1/2 mile of the cavern. This path includes lights, steps, and handrails and focuses more on the education and history of the cave.

Back at the campgrounds you can also pan for gemstones, relax by the campfire, visit the swinging bridge, hike the trails, swim, or play games such as basketball and cornhole. The site is only about a mile and a half away from the nearest store and gas station, and 15 minutes from both downtown Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain attractions.
