Welcome to one of the most beautiful places in the United States, Rock City, Georgia.

Located just 6 miles from downtown Chattanooga, Rock City sees 1/2 million visitors each year. This 'true marvel of nature' sits atop Lookout Mountain, the natural parkland holding massive ancient rock formations, luscious gardens with over 400 native plant species, and truly astounding 'Seven States' panoramic views.

Rock City has an interesting history tracing back to Native Americans, Civil War battles, and golf-centric tourist attractions. In the 1800's Cherokee tribes inhabited the mountaintop. In fact, one of the most famous views here, Lover's Leap, is said to have been named such due to an old Cherokee legend in which two lovers from feuding tribes faced death on this cliff, the man being thrown by the woman's tribe, the woman jumping and taking her own life afterward.

During the days of the Civil War there was an epic 'Battle of Lookout Mountain', and shortly after (the 1920's) the area was turned into a tourist attraction golf course by the name of Fairyland. This golf attraction was actually the beginning of the today well-known chain of mini golf courses, the Tom Thumb courses.

During your visit to Rock City, your group will be able to explore freely the 4,100-foot walking trail with various rock formations, caves, and gardens. See the Enchanted Trail, Fairyland Caverns, and Mother Goose Village, each providing their own unique charm and beauty. Head to the Swing-a-Long Bridge for an epic view and bit of a thrill, or to the 'See Seven States' Lookout to see, on a clear day that is, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. Children will enjoy the climbing wall, mining for gemstones area, and various installments of 'Art in the Gardens'.

Once you work up an appetite head to any of the onsite eateries such as the Big Rock Grill or Cafe 7. There are also snacks and drinks at the Cliff Terrace, Starbucks, Dippin Dots, and Fudge Kitchen, as well as several gift shops throughout.
