Proudly situated in gorgeous Forest Park, the beautiful 90-acre St. Louis Zoo is home to more than 19,000 animals across 655 species. The St. Louis Zoo isn't just one of the nation's finest examples of a zoological park, it's also one of the only premier zoos to not charge general admission.

While it's a fabulous zoo to visit for the scenery and experiences alone, with a motto like "Animals Always," you know this zoo is going to be an amazing wildlife park. The zoo is not only a public park for wildlife viewing but a research center as well as their primary focus on animal care and behavior.

Visit to see all your favorites including African lions, Sumatran tigers, snow leopards, Asian elephants, and hippos swimming around in their tanks. Watch as the penguins interact and dance around their enclosures, walk underwater through a glass tunnel while sea lions swim above your head, or even put your hand in the tank and touch a live stingray! Endangered and rare species are represented by dozens of species including tree kangaroos, golden lion tamarins, Sumatran orangutans, Amur leopards, and many others.

The St. Louis Zoo, while it remains focused on the animals, is also working as a public face to the visiting people, striving to educate and garner appreciation for the world's living creatures. As such, the zoo welcomes visitors to participate in their wildlife programs like zoo lectures, animal demonstrations, behind the scenes tours, and zookeeper for a day special.
