Tear Drop Memorial
More formally known as 'To the Struggle Against World Terrorism', this monumental 9/11 memorial in New Jersey is one of the most beautiful and most impressive of its kind.
Completed by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, this 10-story sculpture was an official gift to the United States from the Russian Government. It serves as a memorial to the victims of the September 11th, 2001 attacks, as well as the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. This specific location was chosen because the artist heard survivors were ferried over here after the attacks, with nothing but the backdrop water views for solace.
The structure itself is made of reflective elements 'so that the visitor becomes part of the memorial'. The base of the monument holds granite nameplates etched with the victims of the attacks, and the nickel 'tear' in the middle is mirror-like.
This is a great place to take your group to pay your respects to those who tragically lost their lives in these attacks and learn a bit more about the subject matter.
