Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum

Aboard the Tennessee Valley Railroad, you will ride a rolling time machine providing the sights and sounds of yesteryear. - TVRM

Welcome to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, the only 'moving museum' and only regularly scheduled, full-sized train ride in Tennessee.

This interactive historical experience works to interpret and display railroad artifacts in an authentic setting, aiding in educating the public about the history and development of the region. Historically speaking, Chattanooga first became involved in the rail world in 1850 when the Western and Atlantic Railroads came through, at the time giving them not only a trade advantage but an advantage in the Civil War.

Learn more about the railway's war history, train restoration in general, and fun facts like the various movies the museum has been a part of since 1971 when featured in Fools Parade during your visit. First thing is first though, you have to pick your ride! Check out some of the most popular options below.

  • Hiwassee Loop - 3.5 hours
  • Missionary Ridge Local - 55 minutes
  • Summerville Steam Special - 9 hours
  • Dinner on the Diner - 2 hours
  • Copperhill Special - 8 hours

(There are several more options, plus many seasonal/holiday options that we will check on for your group during the time of your own visit!).
