The Money Museum
Student groups visiting the Kansas City area won’t want to bypass an opportunity to stop by the Money Museum located in the Federal Reserve Bank for a little insight into our Nation’s financial system. See for yourself what happens inside an automated cash vault; examine the Truman Library collection of American coinage – see perfect specimens of coins produced by the U.S. Mint during every presidential administration - and get your hot hands on a 27 lb., $400,000.00 bar of solid gold; check out the fickle market as values change before your eyes!
Take a crack at designing new currency, see if you can spot a counterfeit bill and take a gander at 40 million in cold, hard cash; several educational and entertaining interactive exhibits explain banking, the economy and how the “Fed” really works. The Museum also offers free presentations or lesson plans on a variety of financial topics – why not “spend” a little time shaping a better understanding of why – and how – money makes the world go ‘round? Admission and parking are free!
