Toby's Dinner Theatre
Providing award-winning Broadway and original musical performances to the Baltimore Washington area, Toby's Dinner Theatre is an excellent choice for group entertainment during your trip.
This theatre is located in Columbia, Maryland, just 25 minutes from Baltimore. It puts on 8 shows weekly, with both evening and matinee performances available. The theatre was first founded in 1979 by founder and director Toby Orenstein, who has seen over 200 productions and 100 Helen Hayes Award nominations in the 40 years the theatre has been up and running.
You can see such shows as Shrek the Musical, Elf the Musical, Godspell, White Christmas, Monty Python's Spamalot, and more when you visit. The theater itself is unique in both history and style, the venue allowing viewings of shows 'in the round', no seat being more than 30 feet away from the stage. The 'dynamic interactive experience and great views' are coupled with the thrill of a live orchestra, Toby's being one of the few regional theatres still featuring live accompaniment like this.
Your group will also be able to enjoy a delicious brunch or dinner buffet during your visit. Enjoy brunch favorites like pancakes, eggs, toast, bacon, and the works during the day, then for a dinner selection you can enjoy chicken pecanno, prime rib, roast salmon, and plenty of kid-friendly choices like burgers and chicken tenders. There is also a 25 item salad bar and a make your own sundae bar to enjoy.
Student groups will want to look into the Youth Theatre Series, these musicals coming with curricular connections and pre and post-performance lessons. These exciting live 'edutainment' musicals range in subject and style and include such shows as Goldilocks and The Diary of Anne Frank.
