Tracy Aviary

Tracy Aviary is committed to inspiring curiosity and caring for birds and nature through education and conservation.

Welcome to Salt Lake City's Tracy Aviary, the 8-acre bird haven located right in the middle of Liberty Park!

At Tracy Aviary your group can enjoy exhibits, shows, and close-up encounters with the resident birds such as feeding and viewing. There are over 400 birds here total, making this the largest and oldest of only 2 free-standing aviaries in the nation. This institution is AZA-accredited and holds an 80-year history as a cultural landmark, public garden, and leader in environmental education and conservation.

Over 60,000 kids take part in educational experiences provided by Tracy Aviary each year, taking part in various camps, classes, aviary experiences, and interactive exhibits. Students are able to learn about and interact with birds from near and far, from the birds of the Great Salt Lake to birds of the Andes Mountains. Here are a few of the exhibits they can explore during an on-site visit:

  • Expedition Kea
  • Pelican Pond
  • Treasures of the Rainforest
  • Kennecott Wetland
  • Amazon Adventure
  • Much More!

While here be sure to save plenty of time for a Nose to Beak experience, with daily options of experiences with pelicans and rainforest birds. If you book in advance you will have several more options such as Flamingoes, Cranes, and Condors. If you work up an appetite during your visit stop by the onsite Bird Feeder Cafe for sustainable and delicious dishes.
