Union Square San Francisco
The city's largest collection of luxury, department, and boutique shopping experiences, a vast variety of different eateries, and top-notch San Francisco attractions are what you will find within San Francisco's Union Square, one of the most highly visited spots in the city.
First established in 1849 by San Francisco's first mayor, John Geary, Union Square has an exciting political and cultural history worth exploring as well. Learn all about the pro-union demonstrations held here on the eve of the civil war and about the square's various purposes since then with any of the many tours around the community, two of the most popular tours being the Bike Tour or Barbary Coast Trail Tour.
You will need to be sure to plan plenty of time to spend here, this retail and culture hub providing the best galleries, salons, theaters, hotels, nightlife, restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Shop everything from gifts and local specialties to home goods and electronics at places such as North Face, Acne Studios Geary Street, or Marlowe. After you've shopped till you've dropped head to any of the MANY restaurants and grab a bite to eat, a few favorites being the Burger Bar, Lori's Dinner, or Sears Fine Food. There are also several other cafes, quick bite stops, bakeries, coffee shops, fine dining restaurants, and fast food choices scattered throughout.
