United States Naval Academy

Welcome to the United States Naval Academy, located just 45 minutes away from both Washington D.C and Baltimore in Annapolis, Maryland. The Academy was established in 1845.  Since then, this four-year military college has educated and trained midshipmen to become Navy and Marine Corps officers.

During your group’s visit you will head over to the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center, a spot offering exhibits, a 13-minute film “The Call to Serve”, and guided tours. The main Quarterdeck exhibit is an impressive high-tech visual display capturing the academy's mission, student life, and future officer career paths. It explores these subjects with interactive touch screens, kiosks filled with videos from previous and/or present students, and over 700 different photographs.

Tour-wise, choose one of several tours, including the Historic Tour or a special USNA Tour and Tea.  Tour guides take your group into Bancroft Hall (student dormitory), Memorial Hall, Main Chapel and the Crypt of John Paul Jones and past the Statue of Tecumseh, Herndon Monument, and other significant monuments.  You will see beautiful Beaux-Arts architecture and lush greenery, and you’ll learn about midshipmen life.

Your group may also want to visit the USNA Museum, in Preble Hall, which is free.  On the first floor is the 'Leadership and Service: History of the United States Navy and Naval Academy' exhibit.  On the second floor is the world-renowned Rogers Collection of Model Ships and life-sized dioramas of life aboard an 18th-century ship.

Be sure to stop at the Visitor Center Gift Shop.  It features the best selection of USNA, U.S. Navy, and U.S.M.C. merchandise, hats and souvenirs.  All proceeds from the sale of tours and merchandise benefit Brigade of Midshipmen activities.
