Also known as the "Glass Church," the Rancho Palos Verdes faith-based destination brings in thousands of visitors a year for its incredible construction, awe-inspiring views, and spiritual significance.
Situated on the cliffside overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Wayfarers Chapel is a member of the Swedenborgian Church of North America, a small Christian denomination based on the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg. People often travel great distances to see the shining glass building, glinting like a prism in the California sunlight surrounded by palm trees and pines above the glistening blue waves. The church is so iconic that it has been used in numerous TV shows and films including The O.C., Sliders, 90210, and Innerspace featuring Dennis Quaid and Martin Short.
Today, Wayfarers Chapel performs many weddings, funerals, and reaffirmation services as well as regular sermons. Visitors are welcome to stop by and tour the grounds, explore the gift shop, and learn more about the chapel architecture and grounds at the Visitor Center.
