Welcome to League City's historic West Bay Common School Children's Museum, an award-winning living-history museum located just about 30 miles from Galveston.

Here at WBCS Children's Museum, your students can explore a restored schoolhouse filled with educational artifacts by either taking a quick, free docent-led tour or by reserving and immersing yourselves into history with an 1890s Schoolhouse program, complete with Victorian Schoolmarm.

Experience a day at school in the 1890s, from pen and ink lessons to math, spelling, and history all on lap slates. There will be a spelling bee as well as recess at the Historic Bus Barn, where you will learn some typical games of the 1890s. You will also be able to explore a display of eclectic artifacts, exhibits, and educational memorabilia here, and perhaps see the Ice House and Barbershop all on our lovely grounds under the oaks.

Be sure to visit the Peddler's Corner Gift Shop before you go, and maybe the nearby Tea Rooms and Restaurants.
