Fun on the outside, serious about animals on the inside. Zoo Knoxville is committed to being part of the solution to save species from extinction, both locally and globally. - Zoo Knoxville
Welcome to Zoo Knoxville, the 53-acre zoo and botanical garden that provides some of Tennessee's finest conservation efforts and animal education experiences.
Holding over 800 resident animals onsite and a record of over 400,000 visitors per year, Zoo Knoxville is one of the most popular attractions in the area, and for good reason! You will find educational presentations, camel and carousel rides, animal encounters, and even special and holiday events here at the zoo, making it one of the communities top entertainment and recreation providers. Student groups will love the one of a kind educational experiences, each opportunity 'connecting them with animals and sparking their curiosity for conservation'.
Speaking of conservation, Zoo Knoxville boasts a highly impressive record in their regular efforts, winning award recognition in the past for their work with Eastern Tennesse endangered bog turtles and research on salamanders. You will even be contributing to conservation efforts yourself as a visitor to the zoo, as 25 cents of every ticket goes to 'Quarters for Conservation', a global animal protection effort.
Enjoy convenient onsite dining as well as recreation options outside of the animals themselves, with an on-site children's indoor play area, carousel, and combo ticket options for the Ijams Nature Center zip line and adventure course. Of course, the animals are the main attraction here, so save plenty of time to see them all, from the African Elephants to the Yellow Backed Duinker. Opt-in for animal encounters, behind the scenes observation, or even night safaris for more animal interaction during your visit!
