Welcome to Maryland's sunniest and sandiest adventure location, Ocean City.
Ocean City is a barrier island popular for its family-friendly boardwalks and beaches, this vacation spot perfect for those in search of the quintessential Eastern Seaboard experience. Shell seekers, beach bums and bunnies alike will enjoy the pristine slice of miles of white sand and find plenty of room to toss their towels, plunk down their water bottles and cast off their cares.
Ocean City holds a history of being a somewhat remote fishing village until around 1875 when a local hotel by the name of the Atlantic Hotel began welcoming guests. Soon the railroad followed and a resort was born, making this an early 'vacation spot' in America. In the 20th century, Ocean City's fate as a hot vacation spot was really sealed after two bridges were created in 1952 (Chesapeake Bay Bridge) and 1964 (Chesapeake Bay Tunnel), opening the city up to guests from all over the U.S.
Today you will be able to explore 10 miles of beach and beachside fun with your group in Ocean City. Explore one of the finest boardwalks in the country, let loose within the nostalgically fun Trimper's Rides attractions, and relax with any of the many different eco-adventure cruises along the coast of Assateague Island. There are over 200 restaurants and hotels here, as well as several seasonal free family events throughout the city such as free concerts, bonfires, and movies beneath the stars.
