Welcome to the National Museum of American Diplomacy, the 'first museum to give visitors unprecedented access to the untold stories of how diplomacy has been instrumental to our success as a nation, and how it continues to influence our lives today'.
This museum tells the story of the history, practice, and challenges of American diplomacy through various exhibitions and programs. It aims to inspire the American public to discover diplomacy and how it impacts their lives every day. During your visit, you will experience several first-hand stories of American Diplomacy to put things into perspective for you.
While at the museum your group can explore several different areas that further explain diplomacy in America, including the following:
- Discover Diplomacy Hall - Orientation Theatre, Diplomacy Everywhere, and Spokespersons Podium
- History of American Diplomacy Hall - Great Seal, Story of Barbary Pirates, Cold War Immersion
- Art of Diplomacy - Be a Diplomat, Experience Operations Center, Gift Vault
- Temporary Exhibits - Current example; Berlin Wall Segment
*Note: As of summer 2020, this museum is still under construction/development, within Phase II. This means that you can visit special exhibitions on Fridays 1-3 pm, or you can set up a group educational experience Monday-Friday at 10 am or 1 pm. Otherwise, the museum is not open to the public.
