Woody's Airboat Tours

If adventure and wildlife watching is your thing, then you’re really gonna love this unique airboat adventure opportunity with self-started and locally-loved Woody's Airboat Tour Company. Woody's airboats started as a single man’s hobby and passion and have since grown into a widely acclaimed cruising specialty, the company now used for weddings, transportation, sightseeing tours, and thrilling local adventures. Each option for cruising with Woodys takes place along the scenic Platte River, the options including such things as lunch or dinner cruises, adventure cruises, sightseeing, romance, or pure relaxation. You will spot several local wildlife members of society such as bald eagles, deer, river otters, turkeys, and even beavers.

Joslyn Art Museum

This stunning local art museum houses works of art that focus on 19th and 20th century American and European art as well as well-known works by Karl Bodmer. Educational travelers will appreciate the guided tours offered by the museum. The tours will be held in the permanent collection and special exhibitions. Several options are available based on the grade level of the students. For example student travelers in the Middle and High School can take part in Leadership: Making a Difference. This program will take your student group through a focused tour of artwork from all different walks of people who demonstrate leadership. Also on this tour, you will be able to discuss both negative and positives aspects of leadership.

Joslyn Castle

This home was built in the Scottish Baronial style, inspired by Scottish castles and gardens. The stunning architectural elements throughout the home will certainly impress any guest, the unique style featuring things such as crow-stepped gables and crenellations, the interior featuring delicately carved wood, stained glass, chiseled stone, and wrought iron. During your visit, your group will take a tour of the interior of the home, which features 36 rooms amongst 4 stories. See the reception hall, ballroom, music room, library, and gold drawing-room, as well as many, many more. By exploring the home you will be able to learn bits and pieces about the family, local history, culture, art, nature, architecture, and more.

Old Market District

Welcome to one of Omaha's most historic and most entertaining attractions, the Old Market District! This 17-acre entertainment and shopping district holds restaurants, art galleries, and upscale shopping opportunities. The historic cobblestone streets are lined with musicians and artists, offering constant entertainment as you admire art, shop, or dine the night away. Most of the buildings you see are well-preserved and highly historic, holding innovative restaurants, original steakhouses, local pubs, quaint cafes, jazz clubs, and art galleries and shops galore! Take a horse and buggy ride around the district for the best, and most historic, views.

Henry Doorly Zoo

This zoo is unlike any other by allowing student and adult groups access to so much in such a small area. Most zoos make you walk miles to view the lone buffalo but this is not the case at the Henry Doorly Zoo. The Henry Doorly Zoo displays modern exhibits that give you the sense of being in a natural habitat. From the time you step foot in the zoo, you soon realize you have entered the wild. Some must-see exhibits include the Desert Dome (the largest geodesic dome in the world), the largest nocturnal exhibit and swamp located in the lower level of the Desert Dome, the Lied Jungle (the world’s largest indoor rainforest), and the Hubbard Gorilla Valley (an exhibit that features several clear dome structures where visitors can interact with gorillas).
