This 3-day Buffalo itinerary offers your group the most educational attractions in the area, as well as some of the most entertaining. Spend your days learning within the Buffalo Museum of Science, Naval Park, and Zoo, then let loose and enjoy some adventure near Niagara Falls with the Niagara Zipper and Lockport Cave!

Buffalo Museum of Science

The Buffalo Museum of Science has been in operation since 1929 and remains dedicated to the study and interpretation of the natural and physical sciences. There is a significant part of the museum’s collections of over 700,000 specimens that pertain to the Greater Niagara Region. They form the most complete record of life in all of its forms in the New York area from subjects such as anthropology, botany, entomology, mycology, paleontology, and zoology. The group can also view exhibits such as Our Place in Space, Vertebrate Evolution, Seymour and Stanley, and Digging into Western New York’s Past.

Albright Knox Art Gallery

At the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the pupils will have the opportunity to check out the museum’s Fine Art Collection, a gallery especially rich in post-war American and European art. There are significant works of art in genres such as Cubism, Surrealism, Constructivism, and other trends of the revolutionary 1920s and '30s. Documented artists include Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse, Andre Derain, and Joan Miro. Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, and art from the 1970s through the end of the century are well represented by exceptional works from individuals such as Arshile Gorky, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, and Jasper Johns.

Buffalo Naval Park

Buffalo Naval Park sits on the shore of Lake Erie in Buffalo and features 4 decommissioned naval vessels that served in a variety of conflicts through time. There is a lot you can do during your visit, from in-depth tours of the vessels in the yard to an experience in the Maritime Simulator, which teaches guests how to sail a naval vessel. Visit the onsite Monuments Garden to pay homage to past wartime veterans, then head to the museum to see various U.S military exhibits featuring hundreds of artifacts such as uniforms, patches, medals, equipment, tools, medicine, and more. There is a theater in the Field Tent onsite that plays a loop of educational films, as well.

Buffalo Zoo

The third oldest zoo in our country, urban Buffalo Zoo is 23.5 acres of year-round conservation efforts, education for the masses, and unrivaled animal entertainment! This is a treasured retreat for rare inhabitants like the Siberian tiger and Asian elephant. Programs for student groups vary from sleepovers to camps and workshops. Featured creatures might be an Indian rhino, a spotted hyena, the poison dart frog, or even a crunchy Brazilian cockroach. Don’t miss the rainforest exhibit with the overhead viewing area, or the seasonal train!

Erie County Botanical Gardens

End your day at the Erie County Botanical Gardens, where your student group will have the opportunity to examine a living plant collection and check out fascinating exhibits in a national historic site and is a popular tourist destination perfect for guests of all ages. At the Buffalo Botanical Gardens, the pupils will find a variety of plants and exhibits such as the Tropical Plants House. At the exhibit, the group will find amazing flowering tropical plants and a vine-covered gazebo. This is a great place to relax and play a game of checkers or you could continue the journey to the Panama Cloud Forest. This location is where group members will experience what is like to live 200 feet above the rainforest floor. You will see exotic orchids, bromeliads, and varieties of tillandsia at the exhibit.

Lockport Cave and Niagara Zipper

Just 30 minutes from iconic Niagara Falls (via Route 31 East) in Lockport, New York, you will find popular landmark attraction Lockport Cave & Underground Boat Ride. This attraction allows adventurous groups on Niagara Falls and Buffalo getaways an interactive and informative 70-minute guided tour through America’s industrial history via an underground cave tour and boat ride. Not only that, but you can also zip up to the Niagara Zipper while here, providing a high flying thrill ride over the Erie Canal itself! Talk about an adventure!

Urban Air Adventure Park

For a high-flying adventure that everyone in your group is sure to love be sure to save plenty of time to visit the Urban Air Adventure Park, the ultimate indoor adventure park! With locations in most major cities across America, this fun adventure park allows guests of all ages to enjoy themselves, with onsite attractions that cater to any level of adventurer.
